Leadership Development

What makes a good leader?

There are many answers to that question. More than likely, your answer depends on the culture of your organization.

In today’s ever-changing environment, it is important to understand just what is required of the leaders in your company and how effective they should be at driving your company’s profits.

However, just as important as driving profits is having a leader who drives people.

“The single biggest way to impact an organization is to focus on leadership development. There is almost no limit to the potential of an organization that recruits good people, raises them up as leaders, and continually develops them.”

~John Maxwell

Implementing Maxwell’s maxim

My research, as well as others, has found that trust is the single most important factor for a leader to possess. If your employees do not trust the leaders of your organization, it will be a long, difficult road for the leader(s) to travel.

Do your current or up-and-coming leaders possess the following skills? They are consistently good, effective communicators who encourage good communication from others. They focus on and provide team building, while being accountable and holding others accountable.

Leadership is all about people. Period. Strong, effective leadership is integral to both individual and company-wide success.

Providing leadership development opportunities can improve morale, loyalty, and profit.

Integrating effective leadership skills and education into your current system of operations allows for growth and lasting success.

“Leaders instill in their people a hope for success and a belief in themselves.
Positive leaders empower people to accomplish their goals.”

~Unknown

How can you develop good leaders?

One of the most important tools to use when initiating or continuing to develop a leader is to assess their current behaviors and propensities. That’s right, propensities.

What happens when your prospective leader becomes explosive under stress? What if they withdraw?

Do you think it’s important to understand their inherent behaviors?

By utilizing the best statistically valid and reliable assessments on the market, I will help you understand behaviors.

Then, we will create a customized plan to develop the agreed-upon leadership qualities the organization requires for the leader to be effective. After that, we will put the plan in action and monitor the results.

Can you really predict a good leader?

Yes, job performance across competencies, jobs, industries, and organizations can be predicted. Specifically competencies that are identified as the most critical to the job by job incumbents are crucial for predicting a good leader.

A great leader understands that it is the people being led that ultimately determines the success or failure of any venture.

Great leaders surround themselves with great people, who they can cultivate and form into a team of competent, confident individuals capable of working together.

You can help create or find the perfect leader for your organization, and I can help.

Are you struggling to find good leaders in your organization?

Don’t despair!

We’ve all been there. We’ve all also experienced bad leaders. It’s part of the learning experience.

Whatever you’re looking for in your leaders, the ultimate goal is to energize and motivate your employees as well as increase the company’s profit objectives. It’s a win-win situation!

Characteristics of a good leader:

According to Deloitte University Press, Soft skills trump technology in driving digital transformation. When asked about the most important skill for leaders to succeed in a digital environment, only 18% of respondents listed technological skills as most important. Instead, they highlighted managerial attributes such as having a transformative vision (22%), being a forward thinker (20%), having a change-oriented mindset (18%), or other leadership and collaborative skills (22%).”

Effective communication

Learning soft skills is necessary to lead. In today’s working environment, it is not enough to be skilled technically; it is as important to develop softer interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Such skills will help existing and emerging leaders communicate and collaborate more effectively.

Additionally, learning to communicate more effectively as well as become a better strategic thinker is vital for leadership success. Learn how to make effective decisions and understand and apply situational leadership to your working environment.
